I hold a drum making ceremony around the Solstices and Equinoxes. I have been teaching drum making since 1994 after an apprenticeship with a Cherokee drum maker ‘Two-Walks’. The drum is an instrument for music or for prayer. When we construct the drum, each is made with love, respect and prayer. It is a process of connecting with what is sacred in ourselves and offering this gift to ourselves. In the tradition that I was taught, we smudge all the materials and offer tobacco to the spirits. We offer our gratitude for the wild animal from which the drum head was sourced and the tree that provided the wood for the hoop. Most important of all is the joy of doing it.

The drum we will be making is a Native American hoop drum. The cost is $175. for a 17"drum with elk skin or wild horse hide and a cedar hoop. Only high quality materials will be provided. We usually start at 10:AM and finish by 5PM. Please call or email us, if you are interested so that I can reserve and acquire the materials in time.
